Groundbreaking Ceremony at Bollo Lane
This month, the CES team had the honour of attending Bollo Lane’s Groundbreaking Ceremony in Acton, W3, with their OKB Attachments hydraulic breaker.
The ceremony was hosted by Barratt Homes and the West London Partnership, and we were beyond thrilled to be invited by the demolition contractor, Greater London Demolition, as we were requested to supply a breaker not only for the ceremony itself, but also to commence works on site. At the end of the 24t Sany SY215C LC sat an OKB B1800 breaker, primed and positioned to break the ground when the buzzer was pressed on stage.
With tea, coffee, and breakfast on arrival (and press in tow), Director and Owner William Coyle, alongside Head of Marketing Ella Woodford, listened closely as speakers outlined what this landmark project will bring to the local community.
Talks given by Tom Copley, Deputy Mayor of London for Housing and Residential Development, highlighted that of the 900 new homes planned, 50% will be designated for affordable housing. These well-connected, energy-efficient homes (situated alongside the Piccadilly Line) will utilise modern technologies designed to reduce the cost of living, a welcome step toward more sustainable urban housing.
Graeme Craig, Director and CEO at Places for London, explained that the development will be delivered across three phases, beginning with demolition works led by the renowned contractor Greater London Demolition. Owner and Director John Hanley described the project as “a huge step forward for London as a whole,” reflecting the scale and significance of the transformation underway.
As 11am drew closer, the on-stage button was collectively pushed, and the first piece of ground was broken. Applause erupted as the project was confirmed underway.
For Coyle Equipment Services, it was a proud moment to see our equipment play a part in officially marking the beginning of such an important development. Being trusted to supply machinery for both the ceremonial groundbreaking and the initial phase of works is a testament to the strong relationships we’ve built within the industry.
OKB Attachments on Site
As the London dealer for OKB Attachments, we look forward to seeing the attachment range in action. Breakers for breaking ground and rock, selector grabs for sorting and handling demolition material, shears for cutting through steel and rebar and concrete crackers for tackling the larger chunks of concrete following breaking ground will be of the upmost importance in this project.
We’re excited to continue supporting the project as it progresses and look forward to seeing Bollo Lane evolve into a vibrant, sustainable community in the heart of West London.
